Ilderton Motor Vehicle Project (IMP) is a company with charitable objectives. Since 1974 has delivered services to enable young people to participate fully in society.

Housed in a purpose built workshop in Deptford South East London, IMP is an accredited City and Guilds Centre.

IMP has pioneered and developed an approach to working with young people based on exploring their instincts to learn and curiosity about the make up and practical application of the science of motor mechanics.

Working in partnership with local government, Youth Justice, the Police and voluntary organizations IMP programmes are for young people aged thirteen plus. IMP operates an Open Access Services Policy and participates in research on the causes and prevention of motor vehicle crime, by young people.

New Management

IMP is under new management (January 2011) Executive Directors Iristide Essien and Mr. Mark Riches are now responsible for programme delivery and the management of staff. IMP will maintain its long established ethos: delivering education that empowers young people to participate fully in society. However, new training programmes and working practices, in particular out sourcing service delivery has already been introduced; ORBIT Training, a unique mobile motorcycle project, specifically designed to deliver youth diversion programmes to young people aged thirteen plus will deliver outreach services.
