While compulsory basic training (CBT) enables a young person to apply for a provisional motorcycle  licence (restricted to ride a 50cc) at seventeen years of age) they can upgrade to a 125cc motor cycle  with no extra training required. The programme provides enhanced training on road safety and high powered motor vehiclesuct



 Programme Description

Delivered by ORBIT Training this programme aim to further educate young people to the dangers of motorcycle riding by providing enhanced training. Participants will be tutored how to ride a motorcycle safely, the importance of crash helmets, and vital motorcycle safety checks before riding. Participants complete a hazard perception and theory exam, before practical rider training starts.
Programme Specs
.  The requirements to deliver this course are as follows:
  • An open piece of tarmac land, i.e. car park, school playground, with easy access for a 27ft lorry and preferable near a building with electricity supply, and toilets. 


Programmes 


Schools Programme: Basic motor maintenance and personal development

Evening Programme: A club-like provision where participants work on both motorcycles and cars.

On Your Wheels: A breakfast club designed and build healthy rapport between students and reduce the incidents of truancy.

Youth Diversion Programme: Designed for young people at risk of offending.

Pre CBT Course: Designed to educate young people about safety and motorcycle riding.

Off Road Motor Cycle Events: Away from their every day environment this programme is designed to provide on the road safe riding skills.


The IMP programme delivery timetable is broadly coterminous with that of local schools. The Winter Programme commences on January 8 2011. The Summer Programme however starts on 1st May 2011.

While most programmes are delivered in house, the out reach service takes the service out into the community to schools, colleges, theatres, and community centers.
