Programmes Overview

IMP is an accredited City and Guilds Centre. IMP programmes Include accredited
pre-vocational training in car, go-karts and, motorcycle maintenance, personal development, numercy literacy and life skills.

Programmes supplement the school’s curriculum and introduce students to the practical application of the science of motor mechanics and skills to assist personal development.

Refferal To IMP Programmes

Access to accredited programmes is primarily through a Referral Agency i.e. school Youth Justice etc. Click to view and/or complete a Referral Form.

Students pursuing programmes will:

  • Gain an accredited qualification
  • Access career counselling for further education/ training and or employment.
  • Acquire transferable skills on health and safety at work and on road safety.
  • Understanding the legal requirements of motor vehicle ownership and use.
  • Participate in organised leisure activities and teamwork.
  • Take personal responsibility for their actions and to make informed decisions.

 Accredited programmes include the following:
  • City and Guilds Scheme 3902-01/11 (Entry 3 / Level 1) – Award, Certificate or Diploma in Vehicle Systems and Body and Paint Maintenance
  • City and Guilds scheme 3682 (Level 1/2) – Health and Safety in a Workplace.
  • City and Guilds scheme 7546 (Entry 2 / Level 1) – Employability and Personal Development.
  • City and Guilds Scheme 7570 (Entry 3 / Level 1) – Award and Certificate in Personal Development and Contributing to the Community
  • City and Guilds Scheme 3791 (Entry 2) – Profile of Achievement Award

Programmes 


Schools Programme: Basic motor maintenance and personal development.

Evening Programme: A club-like provision where participants work on both motorcycles and cars.

On Your Wheels: A breakfast club designed to build a healthy rapport between students and reduce the incidents of truancy.

Youth Diversion Programme: Designed for young people at risk of offending.

Pre CBT Course: Designed to educate young people about safety and motorcycle riding.

Off Road Motor Cycle Events: Away from their every day environment this programme is designed to provide on the road safe riding skills.


The IMP programme delivery timetable is broadly coterminous with that of local schools. The Winter Programme commences on January 8 2011. The Summer Programme however starts on 1st May 2011.

While most programmes are delivered in house, the out reach service takes the service out into the community to schools, colleges, theatres, and community centers.
